MISA (Municipal Information Systems Association) is an emerging not-for-profit associate composed on provincial, inter-provincial, or territorial associations of municipal government representatives and others, engaged in, or interested in, the development and operation of municipal information Systems. MISA is an established Canadian association of municipal government representatives and others interested in the effective use of information technology to provide better and more cost-effective services to municipal taxpayers and clients.
MISA Prairies is the chapter that represents municipalities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Currently the Prairies Chapter has 26 member municipalities and 11 associate members and it continues to grow each year.
While each municipality faces its own unique challenges the methods used to address those challenges are often similar. Information Systems professionals at the municipal level encounter similar issues on a daily basis can benefit from sharing those experiences with each other. MISA aims to provide a forum for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge for municipal IT workers.
MISA also aims to provide a unified voice for communicating municipal issues to our federal and provincial counterparts. By working together it is possible to create an economy of scale with the larger federal and provincial organizations.
